Sofie Almroth

Sofie Almroth

Swedish mezzo-soprano Sofie Almroth began her musical training at two of Scandinavia's most renowned music schools, receiving awards of musical excellence from both institutions. She later moved on to studying musicology at the Stockholm University before commencing her full-time vocal studies with Dr. Rudolf Piernay at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she is supported by Stiftelsen Emma & Erik Granes Minne, Anna Whitlocks Minnesfond and Rune Ljungdahls Stiftelse.

Her engagements as a concert soloist have mainly been focused around Scandinavia and the UK with occasional performances in Germany and USA. Notable performances on the opera stage include Second Boy in Die Zauberflöte (Dalhalla, Sweden) and Jette in Der Vogelhändler (Stockholm Operetta Ensemble). She has also appeared as a soloist in oratorios, symphonies and cantatas by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Mendelsohn, Pärt and Beethoven as well as the modern classic "De Staat" by Andriessen.

Sofie combines a passion for Latin-American dances with her passion for singing through several interesting projects both in Sweden and in London, including the Almroth-Hormazábal Duo (tour in Scandinavia summer of 2011).
