Christmas Oratorio - J.S.Bach parts 1, 2 and 3

The music
for the Christmas Oratorio was not originally written for the Church but for the name-day of Friedrich August II, the new Elector of Saxony - 3rd August,1733. Bach, in his position as Director of the Leipzig Collegium Musicum, began a series of celebratory secular cantatas to mark the occasion.
Nathan Vale
Nathan Vale was a Choral Scholar at Wells Cathedral before studying at the Royal College of Music.
Darren Jeffery
Darren Jeffery studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester with Patrick McGuigan.
The Cherwell Orchestra
is based on players in the Banbury and Brackley area and was founded in 1985 under its present director, mainly to provide an orchestra to accompany local choral societies. They have played for choirs based in Banbury, Bloxham, Brackley, Chipping Norton, Eynsham, Stanton Harcourt, Northampton, Shipston-on-Stour and Wellingborough.
